The first MY for the [GB] should be 2015, since it was launched in November 2014.
Do I change all the 2014 GB to 2015 ?

were the facelifted [PB] only built in Turkey? I remember reading so, but I can't find the source. @AleX_DJ?
Not really sure, since Assan Otomotiv in Turkey received CKD kits from India for this generaition. Indeed, the units for Europe until 2011 are Indian-sourced, and I believe the following ones were mixed sourced. Anyway, the facelifted i20 was available also in India as iGen i20.

I believe it should be correct. European sales began between November and December 2014, Germany received the first ones in December

About the models mentioned by Alex in his breakdown (great job! We have to do that also for Kias ), I agree nearly on everything. But is the i40 really that different from the Sonata, or just has different body details (and thus a situation like the Elite i20 mentioned before)? I see the i40 was sold also in certain Asian countries (like Singapore).
It appears the i30s sold in Australia and NZ were sourced from South Korea, except the rare 3-doors, according to this comment by MisterZ: https://imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=1172160
I believe that is the only 3-doors listed in Oceanian location.
About the Getz/Click, I'm wondering if there was really significant imput by the Euro R&D center, which was just opened if I understand well what I'm reading? Personally I'd leave it as origin South Korea. Also we'd have to revert the model code to TB I believe.
And yes, I agree too with the [GB] i20 being 2015MY, also here first units arrived in December at least, if not directly in 2015

Yes, if you notice they have a similar but in fact different body. You can look at this interesting comparison made by Drive Australia, since their market received both models:
https://www.drive.com.au/reviews/hyundai-i40-premium-v-hyundai-sonata-premium-comparison-review/
Although appearing nearly identical, I don't believe they have any body panels in common. Moreover, the i40 came out from a study of Hyundai Europe GmbH made together with BASF on new materials for interior and chassis, and is credited to have a completely reworked chassis, with a shorter wheelbase than the Sonata.

I totally agree, at least unless we can get more proofs of Hyundai Europe's work on this model, but I believe you're right

Quote From: Wikipedia de (translated)
The concept vehicle of the i40 was developed by Hyundai's European Center in Rüsselsheim in collaboration with BASF, with the goal of presenting new cabin materials and weight reduction techniques for the chassis. Electrical energy saving from exhaust gas was also researched, through the use of thermoelectrical exhaust inserts.
[...]
The body was designed by Thomas Bürkle and is built on a longer wheelbase than the Sonata. Despide riding on a practically new platform, the i40 can be seen as a more refined and expensive version of the Sonata.

There are so few of these that it will be easier to fix manually
The rest is updated. I also changed default country for Hyundai:
(for the few i10 of earlier generations, they can be set manually when added)
The various names for the wagon versions are not handled automatically, it is annoying to manage with the current system
edit: I forgot the i40

I forgot to mention the Venue. There are two models available: the global [QX] and the Indian [QXi], which is shorter as usual. Also here, I'm not sure if the [QXi] deserves an Indian origin, while the [QX] is for sure a South Korean design.

We have to do that also for Kias
Nice idea, let's go
cee'd/Ceed
All generations are designed by Kia Europe in Germany, including the derivations pro_cee'd (coupé), Proceed (shooting brake) and XCeed (crossover) and they are all built in Slovakia (or in Russia for the local market). The cars listed on the site still have origin South Korea for some the entries. To be noted that the first two generations [ED] and [JD] are badged "cee'd" and the new [CD] as "Ceed".
Rio
Global Rio models all are South Korean designs, what I'm not sure of is where the version for Russia and China were developed. They have model codes [QB] for the 2012-16 model and [FB] for the 2017+ model. They differ from the contemporary global Rio models by exterior design, some engine options and larger sizes. The most recent model originated also a crossover model similar to the Stonic, called Rio X-Line in Russia and KX Cross in China.
I suppose that these models were engineered by Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia in China, but I don't have sure informations about this
Seltos
The global Seltos [SP2], designed in South Korea, originated two versions for emerging markets:
- the Indian [SP2i], with shorter wheelbase and a slightly different exterior design, which is also exported to Africa, Latin America, Middle East and several South/Southeast Asian markets (except the Philippines) and is also assembled in Vietnam
- the Chinese [SP2c], originally badged as KX3 until April 2023, which is exteriorly almost identical to the global model, but is slightly longer.
As for other similar cases, I'm not sure how they should be handled. Maybe the [SP2i] could have Indian origin, but the [SP2c] could to be too similar to the global one to have a different origin
Venga
The Venga [YN] is an European design of Kia Europe of Germany and is built in Slovakia. The ones listed here are all with correct origin flag, except a couple
Pride
The original Pride [UB], as a rebadged Mazda 121, is a Japanese design commissioned by Ford, which originated also the Festiva. A reference can be found here: https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/mazda-121-carsguide-car-of-the-week-16571
So I believe that the Pride [UB] should have Japanese origin, and same should be for the first-gen Ford Festiva. This is valid for sure for the hatchback model, not sure about the saloon and the wagon, which weren't available for Ford and Mazda. Other variations, as like fastback or pickup models, are Iranian designs of SAIPA.
I'm not sure about the new Carens [KY], which is reserved for emerging markets, and its sister model Hyundai Stargazer (built exclusively in Indonesia), neither of the small SUV Kia Sonet, which is a derivative of the Indian version of the Hyundai Venue [QXi].

Great!
Well, with all those models with little wheelbase/length differences, now I'm not sure anymore they would need a different origin, maybe this would only generate confusion, especially for some markets..
Anyway, I think I'll go through the i10 that have to be set origin/years manually..@AleX_DJ, if you want you can help with plates etc.

Another make for which we should do some research is MG. New MG models are listed with origin China, but brand owner SAIC has got an R&D centre in Birmingham, where models like MG 3, MG 6 and Roewe 550/MG 550 are credited to have been engineered.
The centre has been operative at least until 2019, then it has been 'downsized', but I don't know which their tasks are nowadays. Their website is no longer active, but it was archived in archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20160303224235/http://www.saicmotor.co.uk/

edit: I forgot the i40
I checked the local names for wagon versions of i30 and i40 models, I put them in comments on the single pages. For the older Lantra/Elantra models it will need some more time, because the documentation is more difficult to be found
For reference, these are the local names I've found so far:

I also have to correct myself: I was thinking that the i40 wasn't available in South Korea, but in fact it has been from a certain time: https://autocatalogarchive.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Hyundai-i40-2016-KR.pdf
Seems that it was badged simply as i40 in wagon style and as i40 Saloon in sedan style.

If you want to keep all these research info somewhere, it may be worth making a separate thread just for Hyundai info and copy it there, it will be easier to find later
I'll check the Kia info posted above later.

Yes, why not. The search engine of the forum is not very good, but I think it is a better way to keep the info for later.
Originally the idea was to use that section for that:
https://imcdb.opencommunity.be/forum_category-6-Useful_info_and_links_for_identification.html
And having one thread per make.
But it somewhat never worked
We could somewhere have an index of all threads, even if there are multiple ones per make.
One of the next features to come to IMCDb would be a better management of the makes. Then we would be able to directly link to these threads from the new "Make" page to come to the site.

Anyway, could you please set [TB] as chassis code for all Hyundai Getz? Thanks in advance
