It is not supposed to look different, I just moved the site to a new server. There was an off-topic discussion that you started about the future new site, but it was never related to this maintenance operation.

Only 6 links in mike962's messages, today? :huhuhu:

On Linux:
There is a host file somewhere in /etc, you can edit it the same way I think. I am not sure what you have to do after to make the changes actives though.

Just for the record: /etc/hosts
And you have nothing to do after editing (and saving, of course) the file.

It is not yet in function. I mean that I are sent to the old server with the advice about the change, exactly as yesterday.
Is it normal that the change has not yet fully occurred ?

On the new server the message says "Site maintenance finished", so if you see the old message you are still on the old server.
Have you tried to force to refresh the page? (F5 or refresh icon)
I suppose that you also restarted your web browser since then? (or just in case the computer, though that it should at some time update the address in cache)

I am not able to do such things. I understood that I would have been automatically sent to the new server taping www.imcdb.org
What have I to tape now ?

At the same time, I also started a test with a new ad company. Do not hesitate to report problems related to these ads.

They are fine. We should continue with this company. Their banners are not slowing down the site as the ones we had some time ago.

I just hope they'll provide at least some income, unlike some tested previously

It's still a bit slow to me, especially when I have to replace/resize a pic :disapointted:

The CPU is "only "an i3, but the previous one was an old generation Core2, so I do not think there is a big difference of performance.
While using the site I didn't notice a difference.

However one thing that may be very slow is uploading a lot of pics for comments with the same name.
i.e. when a pic has the same name as another, it is renamed with a number before the .jpg, I noticed that for some users these numbers tend to become very high due to the use of the same name all the time. The script which names the file was not made for handling cases like that, I just made it in case sometimes there are two files with the same name, not 2000  I should improve that by using a random number instead of increasing it sequentially.

It was very slow when uploading a pic from itself (i.e. when you enter a imcdb url as source of the new pic)
I changed something in the settings which seem to solve that.
