General Motors de Argentina

Hello all,

I searched and could not locate a forum thread on GM of Argentina. I thought this might be a good thread to add specific models pertaining to Argentina.

In my first post I will start with Chevrolet Medium Duty trucks.

In Argentina the Chevrolet C-50, C-60, & C-70 were labeled differently for 1974-1978.

1974-1978 610: https://camionargentino.blogspot.com/2012/10/chevrolet-610.html - US C-50
1974-1978 614: https://camionargentino.blogspot.com/2012/06/chevrolet-614.html - US C-50 with optional motor found in C-60/70
1974-1978 714: https://camionargentino.blogspot.com/2012/08/chevrolet-714.html - US C-60
1974-1978 814: https://camionargentino.blogspot.com/2012/10/chevrolet-814.html - US C-70

For now I labeled the few I located in our database as 1974 Chevrolet (without a model name) and [C-Series] as the chassis code so they still pull with the other C-Series models.

I know for the trucks we use Série and then 10 or 20 normally if we cannot determine A, D, or C series (was there a 4th letter too)?

Prior we couldn't tell which weight class and they were blanketly labeled by Gomselmash11; which to his credit was helpful but with other weight classes present it is best not to guess.

The Série 20 was the only "Série" made and sold in Argentina. It's in fact a Brazilian name: it was made from 1995 until 1997 thanks to an agreement signed with CIADEA, allowing GM to transfer the production from the Brazilian factory of São Caetano do Sul to the Argentinian plant of Córdoba1.

About the letters :
• D-20: Diesel engine;
• C-20: Gasoline engine.
There were apparently no A-20 (alcohol engine) in Argentina1,2. And a Brazilian B-10 was promoted (pt), but it was C-20 dedicated to export.

Former pickups from GM Argentina were named C-10 (es), like the US models. For the record, GM stopped the production of all models from 1978 until 1995, the 1985-91 C-10 being made thanks to an agreement between Sevel Argentina and General Motors for the production under license of the Chevrolet pickups2.

[...] by Gomselmash11; which to his credit was helpful [...]

Keeping in mind that Gomselmash11 was, to say the least, so proud of their country that they often "forgot" some details about other countries: they insisted, for example, that the Série 20 was set as a 1995+ Argentinian product, even in Brazilian movies, although this truck line was made in Brazil from 1985 until 1995. So their assertions have to be checked before being used as source.
