Another make for which we should do some research is MG. New MG models are listed with origin China, but brand owner SAIC has got an R&D centre in Birmingham, where models like MG 3, MG 6 and Roewe 550/MG 550 are credited to have been engineered.
The centre has been operative at least until 2019, then it has been 'downsized', but I don't know which their tasks are nowadays. Their website is no longer active, but it was archived in archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20160303224235/http://www.saicmotor.co.uk/

In the best tradition of Chinese propaganda there was always a lot of dubious stuff about that facility back in the day, particularly about the number of engineers employed so I'd be very wary about saying UK origin for anything. There was a lot of "Britishness" used in the marketing in some places.

The most accurate sources seem to have both UK and China being involved in the 550/MG 6. I did hear from a good source that the MG3 was developed in China, was never intended for UK sales and then when they changed their minds the UK did the first facelift version to improve the 3 for UK tastes.

UK did a lot of work on "advanced design" (concept cars), powertrain stuff, electrics and work on chassis. I visited there in 2012(I think?) which was about the time of the diesel MG6. Now that was a successful endeavour.

Venga
The Venga [YN] is an European design of Kia Europe of Germany and is built in Slovakia. The ones listed here are all with correct origin flag, except a couple.

German Wikipedia says early ones were built in the Czech Republic before production switched to Slovakia in late 2011.

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_Venga

And here's the source.

Same thing in opposite direction happened for the Hyundai ix35, built for European markets by Kia Slovakia until MY 2011. Production moved to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech in July 2011

Don't know if I had mentioned this before, but all 2005 Passat B6 should be listed as 2006. 2005 was still the B5.

Sort of an FYI, not for antp to change since I manually did them, for anyone not aware of what I working on and why the default year has changed.

Mercedes-Benz A-Klasse W168/V168 facelift was actually MY 2002.
http://imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=718381

I also added V168 to the few LWB models that we have in the database since MB uses that code for the LWB model.

I am working on the R170 Mercedes-Benz SLK. The 1st MY for the face lift is actually 2001 based off the VINs and build sheets.
http://imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=1229048

MB uses the 8xx codes to define the MY up until the late 2010s. This code will define the MY of the MB

Not "Ka Hatch"? (as most are listed that way)

Are we sure it is the right one? It is not the most common one currently:
Pick Up (161)
Pick-Up (159)
Pickup (1)

http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1127396-Ford-Ka-Sedan-B562-2018.html
This one should be Ka Hatch, as we list them as such for Brazil (I believe it was said by plate checks IIRC), agree with the proposed codes. About Nissan Pickups, I'm not sure what is the right nomenclature, anyway I think @dhill_cb7 did many of these.

Anyway, a mass change proposed by Gamer: 2007 smart Fortwo [451] are actually 2008MY by VINs. For reference: https://imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=1623521

Please don’t rename the D22. I have been going through them manually. Changing them will cause an issue.

Different markets used Pick Up or Pick-Up. Depends where it was filmed..

I don't think three such trivial variations on the same thing are useful. Much simpler to just use one - whichever you want. In 5 years time, with hopefully a new selection of imcdbers eagerly contributing, no-one will remember the distinction or understand how to apply it consistently/correctly.

JB you are also comparing the D21 and D22 which changed the way the name was represented. Some of the D21, which I finished going thru, were all changed and specific tags applied if I found out what the name was in that country. You can search the database to see as I would have posted credible information on each.

However, the D22 I did not aggressively investigate as that generation was sold under many, many different names across the world.

Wouldn't it be easier to pick the dash or space version for all? It is not so important to keep that difference, and will never be really all right as many will be listed randomly with one or the other.

Surely we can decide which one to pick. I know exiv96 also likes the d21/d22 so maybe see what he says?

I am fine with whatever we decide and stick to using moving forward.
