What is the story behind your user name?
Published 28/07/2008 @ 06:12:21, By taxiguy
Ever since I came to this site and started seeing all these different usernames, I've wondered what some of them meant. Some are self-explainatory, and don't need an explaination. Among these ones:

ford guy = likes Fords

ciera guy = likes Olds Cieras

MBSL65fan = fan of MBSL65, which up until recently I didn't know what MBSL65 meant, but recently I figured it out to be Mercedes Benz SL, and the 65 means... not sure?

58Roadmaster = likes 1958 Buick Roadmasters I guess?

antp = lives in Antwerp, Belgium

carchasesfanatic = loves car chases

Leoz = name is "Leo", added "z" because it sounded cool??

Firebird86 = Owned a 1986 Pontiac Firebird

CougarTim = Has a Mecury Cougar, name is Tim

Valiant1962 = Likes and owns 1962 Plymouth Valiants

Mr Cadillac = Likes/owns Cadillacs

raul1983 = name is Raul, born in 1983?

93Montero = owns a 1993 Montero

And of course some that deserve an explaination :grin:

-Neon

-Ddey65

-G-MANN

-fck

-Ingo

-ahight

-wickey

-stronghold

-marioman3138

-wasserspeier

-badlymad

-antrominxx- (yes I spelled it wrong but you know who I mean, the guy that likes Hearses :grin: )

Neptune is his nickname, after his favourite planet as a kid

Neon maybe after a Dodge Neon

No, the Plymouth :grin:

Actually, is for two reasons: Some years ago, my favourite car was the Neon coupè (sold in Italy as Chrysler)... but the last 2 or 3 restyling are not very good... better the first series :wink:

And because I like very much the neons (lamps)

Though my name is not listed: A couple of years ago I registered at an American Dodge/Plymouth Neon-Forum and at this time I was the 1st German in that forum with a Neon. Thus I merged "German Neon" to "Germaneon"

My username actually refers to old nickname of mine (I know it sounds a bit silly), my first name begins with G. I also used to use it as a username for other internet sites like IMDB (although I use a different username now).

Mine was inspired by Konrad Tönz, the Swiss presenter of a 80's TV crime show in the German speaking countries (like Crimewatch UK or America's Most Wanted).

You're right taxiguy. I chose that name because I love Mercedes and I like the SL65 AMG, one of the top of the line models (Even though it's probably the SLR Mclaren). I thought of that name because I wasn't sure what else I should call myself. :grin:

Oh yeah, and the 65 is the displacement number for all V12 AMG vehicles, but it's a bi-turbo V12 that has 6.0 liters, not 6.5.

(ex. S65 AMG, SL65 AMG, and CL65 AMG) They have the same engines.

@Toenz: I've expected it. :wink:
Have you ever been in the pub in Berlin with the same name (if it still exists). It was made in complete 70ies-style. I've been there in 2002.

@MBSL65fan: Oh, you mean the AMG's. "SL65" means for me the Mercedes SL of 1965, so the [W113]. I was really a bit wondering "Hmm, the guy is very young, but he likes the Mercedes from the 60ies?"
So I'm wrong. :wink:

Yes it's a good name to stand behind for me. I like all sorts of cars and trucks, but I am a Buick man to the core, and 1958 was the flashiest of the 50s, but the 59's had the craziest styling.

In many ways in my daily choices, I try to be different, apart from the norm. Here's a kid in his 20s that likes Buicks and listens to Tommy Dorsey, for example. Whoever thought the phrase "act your age" could work both ways?

Tönz, I saw a graffiti painting with that name in Poland last week.

Anyhow my nick started out as AtomVinterNatt (Nuclear winter night) which is a song by the swedish punkband Dia Psalma. I used it when I played onlinegames and quickly changed it to just atom since it's shorter and faster to write.
I chose it because it was the first thing that came to my mind, and I really liked it.
Nowdays everyone calls me that, friends, theire parents and my teachers did it when I went to school.

Is it common in Germany though?
