I didn't really had to go to Canadian Tire today but as i was waiting for the green light nearby, i spotted this van . The more i looked at it the more it looked out of place. I thought it was Renault Master ( note to european members, before having a good  at me remember i never saw any of those before  ) but it is a 2001-2002 Renault Trafic

And last week an old German: Auto Union 1000 Sp Roadster

It's kind of cool that there are people still collecting these. I though Germany tried to force everyone to get rid of their old cars.

Yes, our government always wants to push the people to buy new cars.
But the Abwrackprämie scrappage sheme was 10 years ago - and although a few classic cars were crushed back then, it was only a few and none such old and valuable classics as a DKW 1000 SP.
As the scrappage sheme money were 2500 €, it were more cars with that value, so some Opel Kadett B or so as 70ies or even 60ies cars.

And Germany wasn't the only country with such scrappage shemes. IIRC such was made also in Norway, Sweden, Greece and France, probably somewhere else, too.

But of course, there are politicians, who hates classic cars (and cars at all) and want to forbid them somehow.
The lobbyists of the German classic car scenes (I'm a bit involved) had heard in ministeries in Berlin and elsewhere:
"Be happy, that we don't have the power now. If we will be elected, you with your stinking cars will be our first victims."

So we classic car freaks have to be watchful!

And not only in Germany. Of course there are haters in the political world of other countries, too.
Check it out!

You're not alone - even here in the US, despite California being one of the most well-known states for classic car culture, many politicians in the last 20 years or so have been actively trying to rid the state of pretty much any car older than 1990, and more recently, non-electric/non-hybrid vehicles. Emissions testing sites and the DMV have both tried to pressure myself and other owners of older cars to scrap our old vehicles for cash, but we are resisting, for now.

there was some tries here too ( they initially gave 300$ or some free bus passes ), even Chrysler and Ford did participated in those
programs ( good word ? ) with some discounts on a new car about 10 years ago but there is currently none right now

which is not a bad idea.. i like to go see old vintage cars on friday, not a bunch of modified Civic or VW

I like to go out and see vintage cars on Thursday near me, and occasionally you've got some modified civics and Volkswagens too. The trouble is, we've been getting these gigantic rainstorms in Florida, and a lot of these shows have been postponed and cancelled.

Not sure if it really counts as it was inside a showroom but i went yesterday to a car show. When we came back we had to pass n front of the Lamborghini dealership and this one was quite visible . Never thought i'd see one in real life and who knows when the next one will pop up ( if there is ever a second one )

Is a carport its permanent spot? A little bit of morning mist and the car will be dripping wet.

As well as an overpriced LaForza (only five listed on IMCDb):

Not too many of these lying around either:

Probably he is looking for a garage or a barn for the winter - but he cannot have the place in the barn in the next village, he had parked his former old car, a Mercedes W201 - because my K 70 is standing there since ten years.
Half a year ago it was cleared off there, but the new free space was taken by my wife to store her toy car, an Astra Twin Top there.

It's hard to catch garage space here - it's a village with rather wealthy people and a terrible public transport - so there are often two, three or more cars in a family.

Some months ago I looked for offered spaces in underground garages - just terrible.
One from 1969 was worst, totally wet. Even with stalactites at the ceiling.
The other, newer was wet, too. And it's construction was bad. So the outer part of the ventiducts was ground-level Too suspicious at heavy rain storms.

I would just close off the carport with wood panelling and a wooden swing door... Or polyester plates if he doesn't mind the cheaper look.
Do you disconnect the K70's battery for prolonged storage or hook up a drip loader? Presumably it regularly sits for weeks.

Fortunately the neighbour did't took polyester plates, as such cobblework looks terrible. This is not a trailer park here.

But he was tricky and has closed 1 1/2 sides of the carport with clear polycarbonate "windows".
This is decent - not only for us neighbours, also for the communal authority. It's terrible in Germany with construction permits and such stuff

When I store the K 70 at its place in the barn for more than 24 hours, I always disconnect the battery. During the winter I take the battery home in the heated cellar.

And I cover the car with grandma's bed sheets against the dust.
Also important is, to let the windows and the trunk lid a little bit open.
Of course the car has to be dry, when it's parked there
And the fuel tank has to be completely filled, to avoid problems with condense water in the tank.

Here there's no permit necessary for adding constructions less than 40 m2. And if you do need one it's usually permitted by the local mayor, especially before an election. That's why the country is pretty full.

Well, this is countryside here. When you belong to an old-established family or if you are member of the local council, it's much easier to get such permissions.
Or if you know something about the important people in the village... :bogoss:
Well, at local elections next year I plan a try to enter the council - with the allusion, that I don't belong to that structures...
