Figaro, Figaro, Figaro ..
each time i see that name, this pops up in my head and don't want to leave...

With the summer's return the affordable , nearly forgotten convertibles are coming out to enjoy the weather ( kind of )
* Had to retouch the pic a little bit, i don't know what's going on with that ... camera.. :bombe: )

I thought I read recently someone saying they have never seen a Mitsubishi Raider in person? There was one in the parking lot of the car show I attended this weekend:

So this is for that person.

Yeah, there were a bunch of over-done Crown Vics and Grand Marquis at this show but I tend to ignore those. This show was in Hammonton.

I saw a US-Spec Altima [L33] rebadged as a Teana drive past me today (no photos unfortunately  ) ... I know we have a knack for US-Spec LHD cars, but why? It's not like the Teana/Altima isn't NA exclusive :boggled:

Same for RHD MR2, Supra, 300ZX ( Fairlady Z ) and RX7 that i see sometimes . Why getting a japanese one when its available as LHD here ..

I can however understand for the Soarer ( 1992-2000 Lexus SC here ) as , if i'm correct , could have a manual transmission

I don't know if Japan has a similar law about US/CDN spec vehicles but here you have to wait for the car to be 25 years old to be imported ( might vary by provinces , used to be 15 but Québec pushed it back to 25 for RHD ) . Or if you can get your hands on the lucky ones that got registered before they changed the law..

I guess it's the status symbol of "I have something from where it came from"... Although that fails to explain the Altima being here.

As for import regulations, ours is basically "does your US/EU-spec car have something we can compare it to, and able to pass our over-stringent JCI?" and that's it... No stupid age restrictions

I think the Avensis is one of the few Japanese cars that was never sold there in any shape or form? The Japanese-Americans were probably available at select dealer chains, as is customary in Japan.

I know someone who works in the Avensis factory, and he has told me that they built Avensis there for Japan. They were second generation wagons with a really low spec, if I remember the story well.

EDIT: There are actually quite a few here: https://www.goo-net-exchange.com/php/search/summary.php (not just second generation wagons either).

Anyway...
Nest of oldies I found 5 mins from my home, I think the Austin Cambridge is a different owner from the Triumphs:

Can't remember the last time I saw one of these, though since taking the pic I now see this one all the time:

Not sure he'll be interested as the Concerto was totally a Euro model, but here's an old Honda for dhill:

@Gamer @Sandie
Yup, we received a lot of Avensises in the 2000s and 10s (there was one in my old apartment's parking lot!)... Unfortunately they were discontinued not too long ago.

What we really never received was the Aygo. While I've seen them gray-imported once or twice, I guess the powers that be decided that they'd be no match for kei cars.
