“Velocità massima” (2002) is a sort of “Fast & Furious” made in Italy. Its international title is “Maximum Velocity (V-Max)”. This is the link to its page in IMDb:

Many sport cars available in Italy can bee found in it, such as Lancia Delta Integrale and Ford Sierra Cosworth, sometimes engaged in street races. But even a small car like the Fiat Cinquecento has its significant part of glory.






In a legendary scene that lasts from 00:30:12 to 00:30:42, a black Fiat Cinquecento is the centre of attention, surrounded by the two main characters Stefano (Valerio Mastandrea) and Claudio (Cristiano Morroni) and by an aged guest of their machine-shop who needs a hard tuning of its small engine. According to the location (Ostia Lido, Rome), their dialogue has the characteristic accent of the Italian capital.

Guest: Ci ho pure n’Arfa e na Subaru, però questa me piace de più perché me ce ficco a tutti i buchi, capito… (I even got an Alfa and a Subaru, but I like this one better, I can stick it anywhere…)

Stefano: Certo. (Naturally.)

You should enclose this film in the IMCDb page of the Fiat Cinquecento: I think that this close-up role deserves at least 4 stars!

In the same movie, from 00:32:47 to 00:32:49 we can see another red Fiat Cinquecento moving quickly as a background vehicle (1 star).

As it is in the same movie, it could stillbe mentioned on the same page as the black Cinquecento.

But if that black Cinquecento is seen only in one scene, it does not really deserve 4 stars, even if the scene itself is important.
4 stars is for important role in the whole movie, i.e. cars seen a lot in the movie.

I understand that four stars could have been too much for a single scene, even if the scene itself is important; but I think that only two stars are too few.
It's a single scene, it's true, but it's all dedicated to the black Cinquecento and exalts it. Its presence on the scene is bursting out, the characters that surround it are merely its corollary and are all devoted to it. I don't know how are the roles of the Fiat Cinquecento in the movies with three stars that you had already included in its page before "Velocità massima", unfortunately they cannot be found in Italy. Anyway, by my knowledge, the scene that I pointed out is the most important role for a Cinquecento, and one of the most specifically dedicated car scenes in absolute. To find more personalized scenes, you have to think about something like Herbie the Volkswagen Beetle. It' only one scene, but it's so specific and intense that it has become a cult for Cinquecentists, at least in Italy.
LEGENDARY: how else can be called a scene that starts stating that the Fiat Cinquecento is better than an Alfa Romeo and than a Subaru???
Would you consider at least the three stars, please?

Ho visto anche io questo film, e la 500 nel film, non ha un ruolo che si possa giudicare da 3 stelle, infatti essa viene usata da un personaggio secondario (e già con questo non può avere di norma 3 stelle) e poi, nel film non permane, viene inquadrata solo in quella scena lì, poi non la si vede più (tranne qualche volta sullo sfondo lontano). Ti faccio un'esempio di veicolo da 3 stelle: la Lancia Delta di Mastandrea è da considerare 3 stelle, perchè è una macchina che viene usata abbastanza spesso e da un personaggio protagonista, così come la Toyota Celica del loro avversario... invece la Ford Sierra può essere valutata 4 stelle, perchè è la macchina che viene usata di più nel film, in parecchie gare, durante la sua elaborazione ecc.

Fai conto di vedere Fast and Furious, e sostituisci la Supra con la Sierra, il Ford F-150 con la Delta e la Cinquecento con una delle macchine che si vedono durante una delle gare nel deserto.

Non eccepisco che a rigore, attenendosi strettamente alle regole specificate per ciascun numero di stelle, la Cinquecento non andrebbe oltre le due stelle, essendo l'auto di un personaggio secondario e comparendo solo in una scena.

Ma vorrei richiamare l'attenzione sulla qualità della scena: lei è l'unico argomento di un'intera discussione cui partecipano i due protagonisti, lei è definita meglio di un'Alfa e di una Subaru (una scena che inizia così lascia chiunque a bocca aperta, Cinquecentista o meno), per lei viene prospettato un tuning talmente scioccante da esserle valso il nome di "Cinquecento da piombare" e da averla resa il simbolo delle tantissime personalizzazioni più o meno hard di cui è oggetto questo modello. E' solo una scena, d'accordo, ma è una scena simbolo.

Potrebbe essere definita una "partecipazione straordinaria", come un grandissimo attore che svolge un ruolo breve e secondario ma che lascia un segno indelebile. Un po' come Totò ne "I soliti ignoti"...

Dato che sei Italiano, vorrei fare il paragone con la Bianchina di Fantozzi. Anche lei è un'auto simbolo: e caro è costato a questa minuscola fuoriserie, in termini di immagine, scarrozzare in lungo ed in largo lo sfigatissimo protagonista e partecipare tanto strettamente alle sue disavventure. Le avete giustamente attribuito quattro stelle. Eppure, il suo ruolo non ha un briciolo della personalità e del protagonismo che sprizza dalla scena della "Cinquecento da piombare".

D'altra parte, se le regole sono queste e sono inderogabili, non discuto oltre, sono già soddisfatto che "Velocità massima" sia stato finalmente incluso a pieno diritto tra i "Cinquecento' movies". Però facci un pensierino (magari dopo esserti fatto un giretto per "Cinquecento volte Passione")... Ci sono le leggi, ma c'è anche la giurisprudenza...

Capisco che la scena ti abbia colpito e che tu ami questa macchina, ma non fraintendere le due stelle come "macchina da poco" giusto per tappare un buco, ti assicuro che in questo sito, lo "star rating" è l'ultima cosa che guardiamo, il vero interesse è per la macchina, il suo anno di produzione, il codice (chassis) il numero progressivo della serie (Mk) ecc.

Per cui non devi assolutamente preoccuparti che questa macchina venga classificata come "inferiore alle altre"

Una targa vera, un'auto vissuta veramente e purtroppo, ahimè, anche morta appena quattro anni dopo il film, di cui possiamo ricostruire tutto, ma proprio tutto, con una visura reale del PRA (ovviamente ho cancellato i dati sensibili)! Un'auto di cui ci eravamo divertiti, in Cinquecento Volte Passione, ad indovinare anno e modello, prima di beccare la botta quando siamo andati a verificare se eravamo dei veri intenditori.

Può contare anche questo ai fini delle tre stelle, per i capi?

Scusa, ti prego di comprendermi... lo "star rating" non sarà l'aspetto più importante, ma fa sicuramente effetto, e dispiace non poco vedere le tre stelle solo per film irreperibili dalle nostre parti e che magari vedono la Fiat Cinquecento ripresa un po' più a lungo ma più impersonalmente.

Vabbè dai ti accontento, anche perchè tu mi hai fornito dati importanti per la macchina.

I would like to explain my insistence, because I think that it is justified by the peculiarity of this case.

The black Fiat Cinquecento in "Velocità massima" is seen in a single scene. But it is something special, like you can realize from the translation of the dialogue.

The Cinquecento is the sole subject of the whole discussion of the three characters, it is stated "better than an Alfa and than a Subaru" (stunning!), for it the characters plan such an extreme tuning that now this car is known as the "Cinquecento da piombare" (the Cinquecento that must be leaded, in order to avoid that with an excessive speed it will fly away like a kite) and has become the symbol of the numberless soft or hard personalizations that this model undergoes everywhere.

This could be called an "extraordinary participation", like that of a famous actor that interpretes only a short role in a movie, nevertheless leaving an indelible sign.

After Neon showed a major interest for car data, I pointed out that we can know everything of the "Cinquecento da piombare" from the certificate of the Italian Car Register (PRA) that I have posted in my previous message. Its plate is authentic, it is a real car that lived on the real roads and unfortunately died only four years after the movie. Just like some unforgettable young actors.

In summary, I am remarking the very high quality of the role of the Fiat Cinquecento in "Velocità massima", that overwhelms its pure duration and could deserve a reinterpretation of the raw criteria of the star scoring.

It is very difficult to find a movie scene where a car is such a protagonist and centre of attention, even for more extensive roles with the maximum star scores.

In a way I would agree with you, but that is not very logical to give 3 stars or more to a car seen for a so short time, and not even used by the actors (?)

It's a single scene and the "Cinquecento da piombare" stays still. No matter that according to the merely quantitative rules of the star scoring it would deserve no more than two stars. But the quality of its contents would deserve much more.
