Hi,
I fixed a bug in the image upload page: when the checkbox "Automatic resize/recompress picture if needed" was checked, sometimes the image was re-compressed even if it was not needed (i.e. if it was already small enough).
If you notice errors or strange behaviour following that, do not hesitate to report it.

Tomorrow or in the next days, I'll publish another update already implemented in the test site, where thumbnails are loaded differently, to reduce the load of the server.
The caching of images and thumbnails should also be better handled by the browser.

Uh one question, how is my IMCDB concept technique idea going? Which is the one were you can fill in any username and shows results of vehicles provided by a user

The automatic resize isn't working for me - even with the checkbox ticked, I still get an error message telling me the image is too big.

How big is the image originally? There is a limit around 4 MB.
I've put 8 MB but I don't how you manage to have so big images...

For now it is not possible, as there is no link between vehicles and who submitted it.
Maybe some day later but there are so many things more useful to add first

This part is done too now, I hope it will not break anything (and in best case, help with performance).

"How big is the image originally?"

"Too big" in pixels, not file size. They're usually around 742 x 576.

I've always just selected the "automatically re-size" checkbox, and there hasn't been a problem. Since this morning, even with the checkbox ticked, I get an error message telling me "With the info entered, the new height is 576 px but max is 498 px."

Indeed in the meantime I discovered that when I fixed the bug mentioned in my first comment I introduced a new bug when you left all fields empty
Now it should work better, let me know if it solves the problem, it should compute the image size correctly.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

It is not something that is easy to fix. Maybe you can ask to the bots to stop going on the site all at the same time?
Or just put new vehicles less quickly...

Hello, the page of my contributions has been a squished; the titles take up two or three lines since the years have been moved closer to the left side of the screen.

Can this be fixed so the titles are all one line?

Nothing changed there, but in your case the problem is caused by your contribution to "The Beverly Hillbillies": that entry has many alternative titles, so it makes the space for the titles column smaller.
As sometimes main titles can be quite long, I can't put all of the on one line either...

edit: I modified the style so the translated titles take 60% of the space, it should look better for your list, but I don't know if it will be the case for everyone else

The site works very low. It spends a lot of time loading pages.

That's not related to updates, that just happens when there are too many bots on the site (or some people maybe trying to extract data via script or things like that, I don't know... at some moments there is a heavy load on the site when too many people are on it)

Have the flags changed - eg user nationality, vehicle origin?? They look different.

 no, they did not change. Seeing all the comments last time I tried to change them, I don't think I'll dare to do that again
Maybe you changed the zoom level to 110% or 90%, and on small pics like that it makes a weird effect?

Just a minor change, but it is to do some cleanup.
I changed the way the language is changed when clicking on the flags at the top-left of the page.
It should work as before, except if your browser does not send referral info (= telling to the server from which page you come), in such case you would be redirected to the home page when changing language.

New features, mostly for admins:

- Documentaries and non-fiction shows must be approved by admins before one can add vehicles in it. This is done to avoid a page full of cars pending validation for a show that we don't want on the site.

- A movie page can be "locked" so only admins can add vehicles in it. This can be changed by admins, in the same page where movie type & year can be modified (so that link on the movie page has been renamed to "Edit info")
This feature is currently applied on The Grand Tour https://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=5712554 (previously a message was hardcoded to notify that Opal was working on it)
Note for admins: please don't overuse it, i.e. do not enable it for all the shows on which you work
As it can be useful that other people can contribute on vehicles missed in previous episodes in a show on which you are working.
This feature is intended for shows where too many people want to contribute, especially when the main contributor has some backlog; or for movies that were already covered enough times (like James Bond movies).

- A custom message can be displayed on a given movie page for all visitors, only registered users, only contributors or only admins. If you need to have one displayed, please ask me, as currently I have to set that directly in the database (no edit page for that yet, we'll see if we use it often or not).

Thanks for the useful feature.

So the message 'This movie entry has been locked: only administrators can add vehicles to it' is visible for all members? What happens if someone clicks on 'Add a vehicle'? Or is that link not there?

It is visible only for those who can contribute (i.e. all those who normally have the "Add vehicle" link, not the unregistered visitors)
Only admins still have the link when that message is displayed.
And if someone tries to sneak in by using the link from another page and changing the movie id in the URL, they get an error when submitting the vehicle
